On October 4, 1883, the Orient Express made its maiden voyage from Paris to Istanbul and traveled non-stop for 93 years, always triggering the collective imagination. It was internationally renowned as a travel destination for historical events and celebrities. Even today, well-known books and movies commemorate the luxury, romance, adventure and uniqueness of the Orient Express. When James B. Sherwood undertook the revival of the Venice Simplon Orient-Express in 1977, he wanted to restore the train's décor to its grand original condition. He entrusted Gérard Gallet with the interior decoration to capture the spirit of the interior decoration, reflecting the luxury and exclusivity of the turbulent twenties. Ercuis was commissioned to design original tableware carved with the letters VSOE. Today, in agreement with VSOE, Ercuis offers its customers selected pieces from a tea and coffee service to experience the immense world evoked by the Orient Express.
