Description
In the early 19th century, symbols of the ancient world were the main subjects of the decorative arts, reflecting Napoleon Bonaparte's desire to proclaim the greatness of his government. The designs are symmetrical; the straight lines are strict, emphasized by laurel leaves, palm fronds and animals, including bees, sphinxes and eagles. Ercuis' "Empire" collection elegantly evokes the decorative themes of the period, and its compositions are set in luxuriously ornamented pieces that are carefully assembled, soldered, bordered and carved in our workshop.
