Description
The Pivoines vases reflect the unity of brute force and elegance, the square shape combined with the curved lines of carved motifs. They represent a contrast of mineral power and floral romanticism. A symbol of wealth, beauty and honor, peonies are often depicted, especially in China. Wreaths of flowers are placed on the crystal as if carved into a rock, intense nature taking its rightful place on abandoned structures. Their model is also reminiscent of the process of making the Lost Wax sculpture, where the artisan breaks the plaster mold to reveal the piece.
